Bio
Maanya Sunkara is a junior at duPont Manual High School and a native of Louisville, KY. She first joined the team in August of 2023, joining on as a member of the policy team and more specifically the bill-tracking committee. Here she tracked legislation and summarized bills going through the House or the Senate. Now, Maanya serves as a liaison for the Student Action Network for Equity; providing insight into their nationwide organization, a member of the policy team; tracking bills, and a member of the Board of Directors. She helped facilitate many discussions at various forums for the Rose Revival Campaign as well as publish an op-ed for the Manual RedEye that discussed the Louisville forum and its findings.
Beyond KSVT, Maanya has been a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer for the past 12 years. In school, she serves as the President of her school's Student Senate club and Captain of her Congressional Debate Team. She is also a member of the Teen Board for the Norton Hospital as well as a Promotional Coordinator for On the Record, a youth journalistic news magazine.
In her free time, she enjoys reading books, hanging out with her friends and family, and watching her favorite shows: Suits and Gilmore Girls.
